Fayeq Husein - Vice President
Fayeq is a 1964 graduate of North Carolina State University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. He completed a social research course in Denmark in 1965. Fayeq then began his career in the Jordanian Ministry of Welfare where he was responsible for adult education programs throughout Jordan. He received his second BA in Social work in 1972 from the Hebrew University. From 1967 to 1978, Fayeq worked in the social welfare office in Jerusalem as the Deputy General Director. He received his Masters in Social Work from the Hebrew University in 1972 and taught social work at the Jerusalem University until 1995. He was also working as the Director of the Child Protection Agency in Jerusalem from 1978 to 1984. Fayeq also supervised social work students at the Hebrew University throughout this time.
In 1990, Fayeq established and became the Director of the Red Crescent Charitable Hospital in the West Bank. Between 1995 and 2007, he went on to become the Deputy General Manager of the Headquarters of the Palestine Red Crescent Society, the national administrative office of the Palestine Red Crescent hospitals throughout the Middle East. These hospitals serve Palestinian refugees throughout the Diaspora to this day. He played a key role in establishing critical interventions and a long standing cooperation between the Palestine Red Crescent and the International Red Cross agency during this time. Fayeq continues to serve as an Advisory Board Member of this organization.
Fayeq also served as President of the Elwyn organization in Jerusalem for many years, and continues his humanitarian leadership as the current President of the Al-Bireh Charitable Association, as well as the President of the Palestine Counseling Center.
